What is a recovery key/phrase/seed?
These terms refer to the words you get when you set up your new cryptocurrency wallet. This is how you can recover your wallet and funds if you lose them or there’s a disaster. Keep it secret. Write it down on two pieces of paper and keep them in different places.
Security tips:
1. Don’t take pictures of seed phrases. If you lose your phone or your accounts are compromised, the photo can be found on device or in the cloud — iCloud/Google Photos.
2. Don’t enter seed phrases on websites to “recover”, “confirm”, or resolve technical issues with app, software, blockchain or something else.
3. Don’t store seed phrases on your computer, app, file, messenger, or saved messages.
How does Stack Wallet make money?
Our exchange service includes a small fee along with fees from exchange partners. For regular crypto transactions (sending and receiving), you only pay standard blockchain network fees to miners. We never sell user data or display ads — your privacy matters to us.
How does the exchange process work?
Exchange services in Stack Wallet are provided by our trusted exchange partners through seamless in-app integration. Simply select your desired exchange, send your crypto to the partner’s address, and receive your exchanged coins automatically. The entire process happens directly in the app. For step-by-step details, check our exchange guide.
Does Stack Wallet support multiple wallets for the same cryptocurrency?
Of course it does! Just don’t forget to backup each recovery key separately.
Do I still need to write down my recovery key if I use Stack Wallet Backup?
Yes. While Stack Wallet Backup (SWB) offers convenient one-click restoration of all your wallets, keeping your recovery keys safely stored is essential. If SWB encounters technical issues (like file corruption or loss), your written recovery keys ensure you can still access your funds by restoring wallets individually.
Is Stack Wallet Backup Compatible With Other Wallets?
Not currently. Multi-coin wallet backup standards don’t exist yet, largely due to most wallets being closed-source. As an open-source project, Stack Wallet hopes to pioneer cross-wallet backup compatibility in the future.
